![]() I'm usually able to gauge whether I'm going to have a nice experience or not, unfortunately in this case I was mistaken. that people had great things to say about it, which they did. I read up on Furama before we went to make sure. This was my second experience in trying dim sum in Chicago and It was really underwhelming. MoreĬoming from Vancouver, Canada where dim sum is everywhere and quite reasonable, I am a huge fan it. We probably would have been able to pull out a little easier. In the future, if we were to park there again (tempted to pay the on street parking fee and avoid the hassle), we would either find a space in the middle lane OR back into the parking space along the wall. We were then able to maneuver using their space and ours to get our vehicle out. We were lucky and the passengers in the car parked adjacent to us arrived and they were able to pull out. We could not maneuver even with some one out of the car directing to get our car out of the space. They allow people to park behind the middle row of cars (not along the walls) and then we were stuck in our parking space! We were along the wall of the building and with a full sized vehicle and a car parked behind us, we could not leave. There is a parking lot adjacent and the waiter validates the parking ticket (you pay $2 per vehicle). We ordered some chow fun for the kids in the group as well as some white rice. Also, they allow you to order some dishes during dim sum hours. We had two vegetarians in our group and they were able to find choices too. sum and if you have a group you can select many different kinds and share them. The dim sum arrives via cart and you choose what you want and they mark it down on your order slip which is tallied at the end. It's more fun to go with a group of people. Sad as this is an old institution over generations. Will even have to consider if will return for Dim Sum after such a poor experience. Broth was completely bland, and very little of seafood was in it. XO Seafood Noodles - ridiculous! Not a hint of XO sauce detected which is usually super tasty with lots of umami. The table next to us never got some & had to leave.īraised Pork with stewed Veg - best of what we ordered and last to arrive but the meat needed to be more tender and sauce was not right, should be a richer brown-ish sauce with more intensity as it should be slow cooked to develop, but this was a light yellow and mostly just taste saltĬlams in Black bean sauce - a very small portion, sadly the clams were sandy, and mis-priced (their chalkboard had a much lower price for it but they wouldn't correct it saying that was from weeks ago, really? then why would you still have that up?) we did not have energy or time to object.īeef with Rice Noodles - just ok, but again much smaller portion than expected, not enough beef, and the rice noodles were not right (should be the wider kind). Very strange! Dishes came out randomly after a long wait but they did arrive eventually. and, can't really answer any questions about any dishes (basic stuff like 'what kind of fish' in the fish) and had such an attitude to not answer anything like wished there weren't any customers there. server kept saying how busy they were so not to expect food by any particular time because kitchen has been slow and other tables complaining, wow. Sadly, a very poor experience: everything from the service to the food. We haven't been here for years, and usually came for the Dim Sum.
